Beyond Energy started operations in 2016 with 11 employees and 1 MPD package in Western Canada.

Beyond currently employs over 200 people and has operated in more than 10 countries. The company’s fleet includes 41 MPD packages, each containing Rotating Control Devices, along with an additional 54 stand-alone Rotating Control Devices.

Eric Legge

President and CEO

Eric Legge, who began his career as Beyond Energy’s VP of Operations in 2016, boasts a rich career in the energy sector. Beginning at @Balance in MPD, he progressed to Sr. Field Supervisor before Schlumberger’s 2011 acquisition. Rising swiftly, he embraced Operations and Sales roles, accumulating expertise across 13 countries.

Eric holds an Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree from the College of the North Atlantic (2009) and earned an MBA from the University of Fredericton in 2022. Renowned for his expertise in MPD and Leadership, his career epitomizes a journey of continuous growth and global impact.

Leiro Medina

Leiro Medina

Executive Vice President

Leiro Medina, now Executive Vice President, joined Beyond Energy in 2016. He boasts a decade-long tenure at Schlumberger, specializing in various MPD/UBD roles. His journey began in 2000 as a Drilling and Completions Engineer at the Venezuelan National Oil Company. Leiro holds a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zulia, Venezuela (2000).

During his tenure with Schlumberger, Leiro contributed significantly to MPD and UBD frameworks and training programs across multiple global locations. His expertise spans Technical Services and Global Operations Support Management.

Darren Burrows

CFO

Darren Burrows assumed the role of CFO at Beyond Energy in January 2019, bringing over 20 years of Oil & Gas Services expertise. He kickstarted his career at Weatherford in various capacities, notably serving as Operations Controller for its MPD/UBD division. Darren then held the position of VP Finance – Canada at Logan Oil Tools for three years before his recent role as CFO at HEAL Systems Inc.

Darren’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina, with a focus on Accounting and Finance. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated proficiency in financial management across diverse product lines within the industry.

Justin Binsfeld

Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Justin Binsfeld, a seasoned professional in the oil and gas sector since 2005, joined Beyond Energy in January 2019. Armed with over a decade of sales, leadership, and account management experience, he plays a pivotal role in the company’s global Sales and Marketing endeavors. Justin’s educational background includes a Diploma in Engineering Technology with a petroleum specialty, reflecting his deep understanding of industry intricacies and technical nuances.

Joanne Robertson

Joanne Robertson

Vice President of Shared Services

Joanne Robertson, joining Beyond Energy in January 2020, brings over 20 years of senior-level experience in Human Resources. With a Business education from NAIT, she holds the Alberta Professional HR designation and completed Royal Roads University’s Executive Coaching program.

Joanne’s career began at AMEC, where she spent 12 years developing HR and HSE functions across Canada and leading the Western US HR group. She then served as Director of HR at Strad Energy Services before joining Smith International, where she became Head of HR for Canadian operations post-Schlumberger acquisition. Subsequently, she held the role of Canadian Drilling Group Personnel Manager.

For over five years, Joanne directed HR at Nabors Drilling and its affiliated companies in Canada. Throughout her career, she has excelled in implementing HR strategies within the energy sector.

Tyler Enns

Tyler Enns

Vice President of Manufacturing & Technology

Tyler Enns was a founding member of Beyond Energy. He has worked in MPD and UBD his entire professional career with experience internationally and offshore. Tyler holds a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering. He has designed and built most of Beyond’s equipment, including separator tanks, controls systems, and RCDs.

Josh Letkeman

Senior Vice President of Operations

Josh Letkeman brings 15 years of experience in MPD and UBD operations to his role at Beyond Energy. Prior to joining the company in 2016, he held supervisory positions at Schlumberger, Strata Energy, and Enhanced Drill Systems, showcasing his expertise in both field operations and project management. Recently, Josh was appointed Vice President of Operations, further highlighting his leadership and commitment to excellence in the industry.

Travis Holmes

Vice President, Middle East Operations

As a young professional in the Alberta oilfields, Travis worked his way up quickly, specializing in MPD technology and solutions. His career path took him around the globe, first to Schlumberger, then to Beyond Energy, where he became the Manager of USA Operations in 2017. In 2019, Travis completed Operations Management certifications at NAIT. Travis has earned a reputation as a widely recognized industry expert with over 30 years of experience navigating global markets and international business development initiatives. As Vice President of MPD Middle East Operations at Beyond Energy, Travis merges practical experience with operations management to drive strategic growth, market presence and enhance our technological capabilities.

Jennifer Hoban, who joined Beyond Energy as HSE Manager in 2016, holds a degree in Occupational Health from the University of New Brunswick. With over 8 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, she has a track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety management programs. Recently promoted to Director of HSE, Jennifer continues to demonstrate her commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all.

Julie Czech

Julie Czech joined Beyond Energy as Director of People and Culture in 2023, bringing over 18 years of Human Resources (HR) experience. She began her career at ConocoPhillips, where she held various HR roles for over 9 years before advancing into senior leadership positions across insurance, retail, and leadership development sectors. With a background in psychology and HR from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University, Julie is passionate about crafting effective people strategies and enhancing the employee experience. Her career reflects a commitment to fostering dynamic workplace environments where organizational success and individual growth thrive.

Rob Colcleugh

Chairman

Mr. Colcleugh is the Chairman of the Board for Beyond Energy. Prior to Beyond, he was Managing Director of Investment Banking for Macquarie Bank. He was one of the founders of Tristone Capital, a global energy investment banking boutique, that was purchased by Macquarie in 2009.

Terry Freeman

Terry Freeman

Mr. Freeman is Head of Investments for ATB Capital, a private equity firm making minority equity investments in Alberta based companies. In the past he served as Managing Director of Northern Plains Capital, a niche private equity firm specializing in growth oriented oil field services and energy industrial investments. Terry also spent fifteen years as CFO of Flint Energy Services and its predecessors. He currently sits on the Boards of a number of private construction, energy services, private equity and real estate ventures as well as one public company.

In addition to these roles, Terry has held multiple volunteer positions with the CPAA CFO Leadership Program, the University of Alberta, and various other community and charitable organizations. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1982 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. In his spare time, Terry enjoys running marathons, golfing, reading and spending time with his wife of 25 years, Kate, and their two children, Michael age 24 and Emma age 22 and their dogs Ellie and Kona.

Lonny Tetley

Mr. P.L (Lonny) Tetley is a partner in the securities group of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate governance matters. Mr. Tetley holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (concentrating in finance), both from the University of Calgary. Mr. Tetley is currently a director and corporate secretary of Certarus Ltd., a private company and the corporate secretary of Madalena Energy Inc. (TSXV: MVN) and several other private E&P companies, as well as a member of the Private Funds Independent Review Committee for Deans Knight Capital Management Ltd.

Ron Green

Mr. Green is a Canadian oilfield veteran with over 20 years of experience. He is currently the CEO of Promeita Infrastructure Corp, a private company focusing on the acquisition and development of regional water infrastructure for the Canadian oilfield. Previous roles included RVP of Rockwater Energy Solutions, COO of Pure Energy Services Ltd., and EVP at Delaney Energy.

Mr. Green attended Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the Queens University Executive Program.

John Samuell

Mr. Samuell is a retired businessman with 40 years of oilfield experience. From 2010 to 2013 President of the Dynamic Pressure Management segment of Schlumberger. From 2005 to 2010, President and Chief Executive Office of @Balance, BV., a private company that developed and provided managed pressure drilling. Mr. Samuell has experience in various management capacities spanning international and domestic oilfield operations, business and technology development. Graduated from Texas A&M University in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Legge joined Beyond Energy as VP of Operations in June of 2016. He completed his BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2009 at College of the North Atlantic in Newfoundland.

He began his career in MPD with @Balance working concurrently in R&D and field operations. Schlumberger acquired @Balance in 2011 at which time Mr. Legge was a Sr. Field Supervisor. He quickly rose into an Operations Management role with a function in Sales. Mr. Legge has spent his career in the energy sector working in 11 Countries around the globe. He has gained a wealth of knowledge in this time and is recognized as an expert in MPD.
